The favorites Argentina thrashed by energetic Germany

In the quarterfinal match in FIFA 2010 World Cup on Saturday, Germany played a disciplined and near perfect game to thrash Argentina and reach the semifinals. Right from the beginning, Germany was in attacking mode that bore fruit in the 3rd minute itself when Thomas Mueller scored by a header on a curled free kick providing 1-0 lead to his team. Argentina attacked to level the score but in vain while Germany adopted counter attack strategy with their morale high. The score remained 1-0 in Germany's favor at half time.

Germany looked good in all the departments, be it defense or attack or the pace of the game. In the second half, initially Argentina was spotted more on goal keen to level but later, Germany stole the show. In 68th minute, Klose scored another goal from close range on a beautiful pass from Lukas. Argentina seemed unable to control the game and Germany gave another blow in the 74th minute with Arne Friedrich finishing on Schweinsteiger's cross.

The game was looking all set for Germany but not over yet. In the 89th minute just before finish, Klose scored his second by striking on cross from Ozil. Argentine Messi tried his best but was always covered by defenders and all his long range shots missed the targets. The game finished with Germany winning by a thumping 4-0 score.
