Skeleton Olympic Event on Icy Track

Skeleton Olympic event is played on an icy track where participants race on a sled down with face first. It is somewhat like Luge sports event. Skeleton fist appeared in St. Moritz Olympics in Switzerland 1928 where natural straight downhill tracks were used. It went into hiding after 1928 to reappear only in 1948 and then again disappeared. It was in 2002 after 54 years, when it reentered Olympics in Salt Lake City with few changes in the course. The straight tracks were given extra challenge by adding curves.

Apart from track modifications, women were also allowed to participate in Skeleton since 2002 Olympics. There are two events held in Olympics, one for men and another for women. Player can leave the sled on the way to push or move it but has to cross the finish line on the sled else there is automatic disqualification. Since 2006 Olympics, competition is split into four Runs spread across two days while earlier it used to be of two runs only. Top runners of preliminary runs advance to next run and winner is decided by adding time of all runs together. Whoever has best total aggregate time, is awarded Gold followed by Silver for second best and Bronze for third best time.
