Drunk and Stupid

Almost every single joke on this show revolves around the stupidity of Jake or the alcoholism of Charlie. These jokes are, for the most part, tired and lame. The worst moment of the latest episode “Keith Moon is Vomiting in His Grave” is when Jake is trying to think of what Charlie calls his grandmother. He is talking to his new drummer friend Eldridge and he says what Charlie calls her rhymes with bitch. Then he clarifies and says it is bitch and we painfully have to watch him try to think of a word that rhymes with bitch while Eldridge says words that obviously rhyme with it. Jake is dumb. We get it. There are several other moments where Jake displays his stupidity as well as moments where Charlie and Alan make fun of Jake's stupidity.

Although the latest episode mostly missed on its jokes, there were a couple funny moments. The reason this show can be enjoyable is because of Charlie and his relaxed personality. He doesn't care that Jake stole beer and got drunk and he totally undermines Alan's efforts as a father. My favorite scene of the episode was when they were all sitting at the breakfast table and Jake was hung over. Charlie tells Jake he is a quitter for not wanting to drink alcohol again. He also says that the best way to not get a hangover is to not stop drinking.
