President Obama on the Tonight Show
Last night, history was made on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. It is the first time a sitting president has ever been on the show. Jay was honored to have President Barack Obama there and Kevin Eubanks and the Tonight Show Band even wore suits and ties. The crowd cheered when the president came out to the stage and applauded often during the interview.
I think the appearance was a great idea because in the past, presidents who did not relate with the general population generally did not do well for the population. By appearing on a show that has a wide audience of "regular people" who rarely watch MSNBC or CNN, it is a great way to reach out and inform them of what is going on with their government. It is equally good, in my opinion, that the President is available on MySpace, Twitter and other electronic social groups where he can reach the young, up and coming population.
I personally agree with 99% of President Obama's policies and I think he will get Washington straightened out. I do have faith that our country will get out of this financial mess and I look forward to a bright future with the green energy possibilities finally coming to fruition. If the right wing conservatives would grow up and quit whining about inconsequential garbage like the authenticity of the President's birth certificate, they could actually do something to help their constituents' future.
